Our goal was to create personas that would guide the team&#8217;s design work. Integrating our research into the design phase, I connected key features with each persona we developed.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align)\">During February and March 2023, I collaborated with five other UX writers to rewrite the UI copy and UX content for the product\u2019s onboarding. Simultaneously, I partnered with Butter Robotics\u2019 founder to better understand the software\u2019s technical terms.<\/span><\/p><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>The challenge<\/strong><\/h3><h4>We aimed to:<\/h4><ol><li><strong>Simplify<\/strong>: Make onboarding user-friendly<\/li><li><strong>Empower:<\/strong> Help all users create robot animations confidently<\/li><\/ol><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>Our research<\/strong><\/h3><p>At the beginning of the project, we extracted valuable insights from conversation mining and competitor interviews would shape our UI copy and UX content rewrites.<\/span><span style=\"text-align: var(--text-align)\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h4>Interviews included:<\/h4><ul><li><strong>1 stakeholder<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>2 users with robotics experience<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>2 users without prior robotics experience<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4>Interviews revealed:<\/h4><ol><li><strong>Navigation issues:<\/strong> Unclear onboarding steps<\/li><li><strong>Process confusion:<\/strong> Uncertain hardware requirements<\/li><li><strong>Complex language:<\/strong> Inconsistent terms<\/li><li><strong>Lack of guidance:<\/strong> Missing real-time feedback<\/li><\/ol><h4>\u00a0<\/h4><h4><strong><em>\u201cIt\u2019s not intuitive. If I would have been given the website and the robot by myself, I wouldn&#8217;t know how to do it.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/h4><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Our findings showed friction was largely due to unclear terms. Additionally, the software&#8217;s language lacked the type of conversational tone that can alleviate user stress. To address this, I knew I had to get clear on the user\u2019s language.<\/p><h3>\u00a0<\/h3><h3><strong>Strategy &amp; approach<\/strong><\/h3><h4>My focus was on:<\/h4><ol><li><strong>User-friendly language:<\/strong> Tailor\u00a0 messaging<\/li><li><strong>Structured flow:<\/strong> Rethink onboarding sequence<\/li><li><strong>Visual-text synergy:<\/strong> Combine visuals and text<\/li><li><strong>Consistent brand:<\/strong> Maintain brand voice<\/li><li><strong>Technical collaboration:<\/strong> Work with experts for clarity<\/li><\/ol><h4><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4><h3><strong>User-friendly language<\/strong><\/h3><p>I used <a href=\"http:\/\/databasic.io\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-token-index=\"1\">databasic.io<\/a> to analyze common words and phrases from social media, competitors, and interviews. This analysis helped build a &#8216;word &amp; phrase toolbox&#8217;.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
